Our Story

25 years of pioneering quantitative finance education in the Balkans.

From IMQF (2001) to MCF (2026), one continuous mission: educate the people who will reshape how finance works.

The beginning

2001 — IMQF founded.

Prof. Branko Urošević launches IMQF (International Master in Quantitative Finance) at the University of Belgrade — the first quantitative finance master program in the Balkans. The vision: train the next generation of quantitative practitioners in a region that didn't yet have such a track.

Building an ecosystem

20 years of cohorts.

Across two decades, IMQF graduates spread across European and global financial institutions — JP Morgan, Deutsche Bank, banks in Vienna and Frankfurt, fintech startups in Belgrade. The advisory board grew alongside the program: Imperial College, OeNB, RavenPack, Goldman Sachs alumni, leading regional banks. Graduates became advisors. Advisors hired graduates. The ecosystem became the moat.

A new home

2021 — Transition to MCF.

MCF launches at the School of Computing, Union University (RAF). The integrative thesis sharpens: finance, programming (Python/R), and AI taught together as one discipline. The Short-Cycle pathway opens — making the program accessible to candidates without 240 ECTS prior degrees, including international applicants. Coursework, advisory board, and faculty travel forward.

Today

Where we are now.

First integrative master program of its kind in Europe. 30+ partner institutions and corporate sponsors (Banca Intesa, Raiffeisen, UniCredit, Ominimo, Tenderly, ARPM, Collegio Carlo Alberto). 100% employment within first 3 months for both cohorts. Faculty teaching the way they work — at Imperial, Barclays, JP Morgan, Macquarie.

Prof. Branko Urošević
A note from the founder
"We're not training people to write Python scripts for finance. We're training people who think in code AND markets simultaneously — because that's where finance is going. The integrative thinking is the moat."
— Prof. Branko Urošević · Founder & Program Director
Why the lineage matters

Three things 25 years got us.

Continuity

Same faculty network. Same advisory ecosystem. Same standard. Students join a network that has been compounding for 25 years.

Iteration

Each cohort sharpens what we teach. Curriculum reviewed annually with industry. The program in 2026 is unrecognisable from 2001 — and that's the point.

Local + Global

Built in Belgrade for international ambition. Hybrid format means borders are irrelevant. Graduates work in Vienna, Frankfurt, London, New York — and Belgrade.
